Dear Jen,

So glad that you had a husband-filled weekend. I remember the days before I had Clara, wanting to make every moment with Dan special. There was a little sadness that our time as a family of two was coming to an end. We had been that comfortable unit for so long.  You're going to be looking back on this time, a year from now, and say, "what did I do with my days?" I'm happy to hear you are filling them up before your family changes forever.

Would you believe that I have that very hummingbird feeder? It sits empty in my pine tree out back. I think it's been empty for two years. The hummingbird comes to our flowers instead.

We spent our weekend running, biking, spectating and eating. Did you guess that Clara and I were the spectators/eaters? You guessed right. We are so good at that.

We were heading out of town to enjoy a day with friends, and we forgot to make plans for Bella.
We are terrible pup-parents. Luckily, she has wonderful pup-grandparents who kindly asked, "what about poor Bella?", and took her home the night before.

Your poor Jackson doesn't know how his life is about to change. Dogbaby, no more.

As for the rest of the weekend, there was a dinner party, a real live Dan & Emily date, and a swim in the kiddie pool on the back deck. It was full, and just WAY too fast.

Love,

Emily
