I've had a bit of a love affair with Carla Bruni via a Pandora station I created over a year ago. Perhaps it's because I don't know what her french words mean, or that it makes me feel like I'm in a foreign place. Regardless, I love the mellow, cool sound she brings to my quiet times.
We SO need something cool for our days. We were pushing 100 yesterday. Thank goodness for our neighbors and their pool. We took advantage of a hot night and made a little fire and roasted marshmallows after the babe went down. It sounds awfully romantic, but let's be real; it was hot, and sitting by a fire was practically silly. We doused the fire and sat inside to watch the heat lighting roll across our back hill.
I really love summer. It is the season from my childhood I remember most. Though it's still a blur of chlorine and sandy suits, sunburns, bug bites and heat lighting.
And now, as we come into Clara's childhood: my cheeks are pink, there are bites on my legs, and the smell of chlorine in my hair.
